The Hated Bible Verses
Some Bible verses are almost deliberately used provocatively. Words rarely preached today because they do not fit the spirit of the age. One such passage is 1 Corinthians 11:2–10:
“I praise you for remembering me in everything and for holding to the traditions just as I passed them on to you. But I want you to realize that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is man, and the head of Christ is God. Every man who prays or prophesies with his head covered dishonors his head. But every woman who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head—it is the same as having her head shaved.”
Women and the Church
This passage is often misused to silence women. Yet Paul assumes the opposite: women pray and prophesy—only with their head covered.
Head covering and preaching
Even Islam took the idea of the headscarf from here, though unaware of it today. The Qur’an itself contains no such command. Originally, life was seen as a sermon, and the covered head was part of it.
Christ and God
Some point to “God is the head of Christ” and claim Jesus cannot be God. But this is no contradiction. Christ stands under the Father, yet remains divine. There are no gods beside Yahweh—yet Jesus’ divinity is clear.
We as divine offspring
Why should Jesus not be God, if even we are called “divine offspring”?
- Acts 17:29: “Therefore since we are God’s offspring …”
- 2 Corinthians 4:4: “… the god of this world has blinded the minds …”
If even the devil is called a “god,” how much more absurd to deny Jesus his divinity.
Do you really believe?
The Bible challenges us to take these words seriously—not by trends, but through honest reflection. Do you really believe Jesus is not God?
